Modernism and Minimalism
A newcomer to burgeoning Tribeca interior design and antiques scene, Johnson & Hicks is quickly expanding the area's aesthetic borders. Lisa Weimer goes for a fusion of early and mid century designed furniture, objects, and one-of-a-kind lamps, with an overall focus on modernism and minimalism culled from european capitals (Paris, London, Vienna, Prague, Brussels). Pieces are solid, handsome, and exceedingly lustrous. Designers of choice include Karl Springer - his parchment desk is particularly impressive - and Lajos Kozma, for his 1920's chairs and sideboards. Josef Hoffmann and Gio Ponti are also highlighted here.
