In keeping with original hard wood flooring tradition, Wide
Plank International has continued to carry the widest and
longest flooring planks available in the industry. The use
of wider
widths and longer lengths will reduce the number of end to
end seams in the floor, creating a more authentic floor.
Newly Sawn Old Growth Material
Over two hundred years ago, when wide plank floors were installed
in the oldest homes in America, the craftsmen of the
day used newly sawn old growth material. In keeping with this tradition,
Wide Plank International also uses newly sawn old growth planks, not
reclaimed. The most accurate reproductions begin with the original material.
Extended Seasoning
Wide Plank International's flooring is uniquely adaptable
to different moisture levels, dramatically increasing overall
durability
and stability regardless of the climate because our lumber spends at least twelve
months curing through a combination of air and kiln drying.
This dedication to quality gives each customer added assurance
regarding the life and appearance of their floor.
Custom Milling
We have the highest quality standards in the industry today.
Our precision milling creates
consistency, greatly reducing or eliminating the need to
sand after installation. This unique process insures a far
more efficient installation.
Design Services
Our experienced staff works with you to achieve exactly the
look required by you or your
clients. Our customers receive samples to aid in their
final selections of species, stains, and finishes.
Easy Installation
For those clients who elect to have their own builder install
our floors, Wide Plank International provides complete instructions
with each
order. All floors are extremely easy to install and can be applied over:
• Standard joist-plywood systems
• Radiate heat
• Screed systems
• Plywood on concrete slabs
Sanding may not be necessary depending on the species and the
application. Complete instructions are provided with each order
shipped from Wide Plank International Floors, Inc.
Ease of Maintenance
Our system for finishing floors gives residential and commercial
clients a major maintenance advantage. We recommend a Tung
Oil finish, a finish that is absorbed by the wood versus coating
it. The floor can be easily cleaned
with a mild household cleaner (such as Murphy's Oil Soap) and
requires no waxing. Our recommended Tung Oil finish can be
spot applied in high traffic areas. When
it becomes necessary to refinish the entire floor, you do not need to sand off
the existing finish. You need only apply another coat of Tung
Oil, making for a tidy project that saves both time and money.
